Physical Geography
Calliano is located in Trentino-Alto Adige, about 18 km southwest of the city of Trento. The municipality covers an area of about 9.62 km² and is located at an average altitude of 350 meters above sea level.
History
The municipality of Calliano has a very interesting history. In 1487, the famous Battle of Calliano took place between the troops of the Republic of Venice and those of Trentino and Tyrol. In that battle, the famous condottiero Roberto Sanseverino d'Aragona lost his life.
Monuments and places of interest
If you happen to visit Calliano, there are two places you cannot miss: Castel Pietra, dating back to the 13th century, and the Church of San Lorenzo, built in the 18th century. Both places are very beautiful to see and rich in history.

In recent years, the population of Calliano has increased slightly, from about 1900 inhabitants in 2001 to almost 2012 inhabitants in 2021. The municipality has a rather low population density, with about 209 inhabitants per km².

Calliano also has some importance in the world of cinema, as it was the location of some shots of ''La dama velata'', an Italian television series.
Administration
Calliano is part of the autonomous province of Trento and is managed by a Mayor and a Municipal Council. The municipality has a twinning with another city, but the field is currently empty.
Other administrative information
Calliano was suppressed as a municipality in 1929 and annexed to Beseno. However, in 1947, the municipality was reconstituted. In the 1936 census, Calliano had a population of 837 residents.
