History
The municipality of Grana Monferrato has an ancient history dating back to the sixteenth century, when the Marquisate of Grana was created by the Duke of Mantua and Monferrato as part of the territory of Monferrato, which was elevated to Duchy in 1575. The name probably derives from the homonymous grana present in the area.
Symbols
The municipality has a coat of arms and a gonfalon granted by decree of the President of the Republic in 1989. The gonfalon is a cloth divided in red and blue.
