Anzano di Puglia is a town situated in Puglia, in the province of Foggia. With a population of 1082, it is a small village located in the Dauni mountains, at an altitude of 760 meters above sea level. This town is characterized by being the only one in the region located on the Tyrrhenian side of the Apennines and, in fact, the Fiumarella river, a tributary of the Ufita, flows through it.

The origin of the toponym Anzano could derive from the Latin name "Antius", to which the suffix "anus" indicating membership was added. Alternatively, an inscription found on the municipal territory reports the name "Anxanum".

Anzano di Puglia was frequented since Roman times, as evidenced by the archaeological finds found in the area. However, the municipality is mentioned for the first time only in 879, when it was a "casale" subject to the feudal rights of Trevico. Following the unification of Italy, the municipality of Anzano di Puglia was part of the district of Accadia, in the province of Avellino. In 1929, the municipality was aggregated to the province of Foggia and, due to the earthquake of Irpinia and Vulture of 1930, was rebuilt with a clearly modern look.
