Zungoli
Hi everyone! Today I would like to talk about a beautiful Italian town located in Campania: Zungoli. With its 963 inhabitants, Zungoli extends over an area of 19.13 km² and is famous for its medieval historic center dominated by the Norman Castle.
Physical geography
Zungoli is located at an altitude of 657 meters and is located in the high valley of Ufita, to the right of the famous Vallone stream. The territory of the municipality is characterized by the Pescasseroli-Candela drover's road, a historic route of transhumance that crosses the Apennines.

The toponym Zungoli makes its first appearance in 1164, on the occasion of the consecration of the church of San Cataldo. There are several theories about the origin of the name of the town, some of which attribute it to a Norman named Leander Juncolo.
History

In 1820-21, during the revolts against Bourbon rule, the first citizen of Zungoli, Salvatore Susanna, was exiled to the Papal States due to his alleged ties to the rebels.
