At the top of the list is Rome, with its 1,287.36 km². Next comes Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna, with an area of 653.82 km². The podium is completed by Puglia with Cerignola, famous for its olive oil, which ranks third with 593.93 km².

From Tuscany to Sardinia: the largest municipalities in Central and Southern Italy

Tuscany is represented by Grosseto with its 473.55 km², followed by Perugia in Umbria (449.51 km²) and Ragusa in Sicily (444.67 km²). Heading west, in Sardinia we find Sassari in fifth place.
