History
The area of Stornarella, like the entire Tavoliere, has been affected since ancient times by the transhumance of sheep. In the sixteenth century, a hamlet was attested in the area. In the seventeenth century, the Jesuits established a residence near Orta Nova. In 1774, their possessions in the Tavoliere were the subject of an agricultural colonization experiment aimed at increasing the agricultural productivity of the area.
