Origins of the name

Do you want to know the meaning of the name "Stornara"? Well, the name derives from the Latin "sturnus vulgaris", which is the scientific name for the common starling, a bird that can be seen on wheat fields especially in autumn during the preparation of the land for wheat seeding. The old coat of arms of the town, in fact, depicted it on a merlons tower.
