Welcome to Cellio con Breia!

Cellio con Breia is an Italian municipality located in the province of Vercelli in Piedmont. It was established on January 1st, 2018, following the merger of the municipalities of Breia and Cellio. The new municipality has approximately 940 inhabitants and is situated in a privileged position on the Valsesia, a few kilometers from Monte Rosa and Lake Maggiore.

The geography of Cellio con Breia

The municipal territory is characterized by numerous peaks, among which stands out Monte San Grato, with its church dating back to 1500. Monte Briasco was instead the center of the Partisan Republic of Valsesia during World War II, and from its summit you can admire a splendid panorama that ranges from Monte Rosa to Lake Como. In addition, Cellio con Breia includes numerous inhabited localities, including Agarla, Castagneia, Cavaglia, Morondo and Agua, Allera, Arva, Baltegora, Bosco, Camo, Carega, Casaccia, Casa Resegotti, Cerchiera, Cosco, Crabia, Culagna, Forcola, Fronto, Maddalena, Mascherana, Merlera, Mollie, Sella, Tairano, Valmonfredo, Viganallo, and Zagro.

The history of Cellio con Breia

The new municipality was born from the positive outcome of a referendum that was held on October 29th, 2017, in both municipalities, with 450 in favor and 29 against. The official establishment of Cellio con Breia took place with Regional Law no. 23 of December 6th, 2017, published in the official supplement no. 2 of the Official Gazette of the Piedmont Region no. 50 of December 14th, 2017. The new coat of arms and flag of the municipality were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on February 8th, 2019. The flag is a white cloth, bordered in blue.
