Bogogno
Living in Bogogno: a combination of tradition and modernity
Bogogno is a small town in the heart of Piedmont, but don't be fooled by its size! With its 1296 inhabitants, Bogogno is among the top ten richest municipalities in Italy according to the Il Sole 24 Ore ranking.
In this town, tradition and modernity blend perfectly, creating a unique atmosphere. Bogogno is divided into 4 cantons, each with its own color: Meja (yellow), Arbora (green), Fontana (blue) and San Rocco (red). This division dates back to 1562, when the town was divided into four parts following a territorial dispute between local noble families.
Society
There are several associations in Bogogno that animate the social life of the town:
- the Pro Loco Bogogno, which organizes events and activities to promote the area;
- the Fisarmonica Santa Cecilia di Bogogno, which offers accordion courses and concerts;
- the AVIS Bogogno, which deals with blood donation;
- the Società Sportiva Bogogno, which offers various sports activities.
Bogogno also has a small but attractive historic center, where you can find the parish church of S. Eusebio, dating back to the eighteenth century, and the bell tower, built in the nineteenth century. But not only that: Bogogno is also renowned for its golf courses, the "Bogogno Golf Club", with two 18-hole courses, immersed in nature and with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.
Demographic evolution
The population of Bogogno has undergone variations over the years. According to Istat data, in 1951 the municipality had about 1400 inhabitants, a number that slightly decreased in the following decades. However, in recent years there has been a demographic recovery, probably due to the attractiveness of the territory and the services offered.
Administration
The following table shows the administrations that have succeeded each other in the municipality of Bogogno:
| Period | Mayor | Party/Coalition | |---------|-------------|-----------------------| | 2009-2014 | Giorgio Fornasier | Civic list "Together for Bogogno" | | 2014-2019 | Giuseppe Perona | Civic list "Bogogno cooperative" | | 2019-present | Giovanni Barbaglia | Civic list "United for Bogogno" |
Notes
Despite its location in the province of Novara, Bogogno is close to the borders with Lombardy. This explains why its name is pronounced differently depending on the local language: while in Piedmontese it is pronounced "Boeugn", in Lombard it is pronounced "Bovoeugn".
Other projects
Bogogno has great tourist potential, thanks to its golf courses, the natural beauty of the area and its strategic location. It is an excellent starting point to discover Piedmont and Lombardy.
