Gattico-Veruno is a small municipality in the province of Novara (Piedmont) with a population of around 5,219 inhabitants. The municipality was created on January 1, 2019 with the Regional Law no. 26 of December 21, 2018 by merging the municipalities of Gattico and Veruno. The territory of Gattico-Veruno is located in the hilly area of ​​the middle Novara, at an altitude between 272 and 407 meters above sea level, between the valleys of the Ticino (river) to the east and the Agogna to the west. The municipality is mostly devoid of significant watercourses, but is covered mostly by broadleaf forests and crops of grass, crops, and vines. This makes Gattico-Veruno an ideal place for nature walks and outdoor excursions.

The regional consultative referendum for the merger of the municipalities of Veruno and Gattico took place on November 11, 2018. Despite the strong abstentionism and the small number of votes against, the merger process was carried forward and concluded with the establishment of the new entity on January 1, 2019. Although Gattico-Veruno is a very recent municipality, it has a rich history of events. The medieval period has left interesting testimonies, especially with regard to Romanesque architecture. In the period between the High and Middle Ages, the parish church of Gattico (called "Pieve di San Martino") promoted the construction of several religious buildings.

The coat of arms and the banner of Gattico-Veruno were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on September 27, 2021. The coat of arms brings together the elements present in the symbols of Gattico and Veruno.

The municipality hosts 5 parish churches, including the Church of Saints Cosma and Damiano in Gattico, the parish church of Saint Hilary of Poitiers in Veruno, the parish church of Saints Nazzaro and Celso in Maggiate Inferiore, the parish church of Saint James the Greater in Maggiate Superiore, and the parish church of Saint Stephen in Revislate. In addition, the parish church of San Martino is a three-aisled apsidal building located to the north of the town, dating back to the first half of the twelfth century. This building is an important testimony to Romanesque architecture.
