Zoldo Alto

Welcome to Zoldo Alto!

Hello everyone, today we'll be talking about Zoldo Alto, a town in the province of Belluno, in Veneto. While it used to be an autonomous municipality, it is now included in the new municipality of Val di Zoldo together with Forno di Zoldo.

Located between the mountain ranges of Pelmo and Monte Civetta, Zoldo Alto is the main access point to the Ski Civetta ski area, with over 80 km of slopes for skiers of all levels. Winter and summer tourism is the main source of income for the area, but it's not the only one.

Another activity that characterizes the city is the production of artisanal ice cream, a pride of the local artisans who spread their product not only in Italy but also in Germany and other countries in Central Europe.

Physical geography

Zoldo Alto: between mountains, skiing, and artisanal gelato.

Territory

The territory of Zoldo Alto is mainly composed of two valleys: the main one winds from Passo Staulanza, crossed by the Maè stream, while the other descends from Passo Duran and extends in a wild and exciting area, including the villages of Gavaz, Cordelle, Chiesa and Molin.

The municipality takes its name from Val di Zoldo, crossed by the Maè stream (which originates upstream of Pècol). The area is dominated by the Pelmo and Monte Civetta massifs, two mountains that surround it imposingly.

Monuments and places of interest

Zoldo Alto hosts many tourists every year who seek the natural beauty of the area and the beautiful tourist accommodations, making this town one of the most popular places both in summer and winter. The numerous ski facilities of Pècol and Palafavera attract many skiers in particular, while art and culture lovers can visit several interesting sites.
