History

Like many other places in Trentino, Ziano di Fiemme has a long and interesting history. The name of the village derives from Latin "Zullanum" and has undergone several modifications over time. During World War II, the municipality was the scene of massacres and violence by the retreating German troops. 45 civilians lost their lives, a wound still open for many elders in the area.
