History: when Scandolara was divided into three "colmelli"
The name Scandolara is believed to indicate a place where "scàndola" grew, a dialectal term that means "spelt". In ancient times, the toponym was written in many variants such as "Scandolera", "Schandolara", "Scandollara" and similar. During the Serenissima period, Scandolara was divided into three "colmelli": "Scandolara Chiesa", "Scandolara di sopra" and "Scandolara di sotto". These three "colmelli" in turn were part of the "Mestrina si sopra", the portion to the southwest of the eight that composed the territory of the Treviso podestaria. With the end of the Serenissima, Scandolara was a hamlet of the municipality of Sant'Alberto before becoming part of Zero Branco.
Monuments and places of interest not to be missed
The parish church of San Martino is one of the main monuments of Scandolara. According to local historian Francesco Scipione Fapanni, it already existed in the 14th century as a chapel of the Trebaseleghe parish. It has been renovated over time and preserves a work of art with the "Beata Vergine Rachele del Rosario ed il profeta Simeone Fontana". In addition, the church also boasts a Tamburini organ from 1945 with 17 registers and about 1,200 pipes. The bell tower, built in 1760, houses four bells cast by the "De Poli" company of Ceneda in 1859 and remade in 1963.
