History
Let's start with the history of Volpeglino. This municipality has ancient origins. It was in fact a property of the Abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio and is already listed in the list of courts of the monastery during the time of Charlemagne! Over the years, it has undergone various changes of ownership and in the twelfth century it became a fief of Guidobono Cavalchini. In 1245 it obtained autonomy as a free municipality, but subsequently passed under the control of the Visconti family. Curiosity: the name Volpeglino derives from the Latin "vulpicula" which means "place of foxes"!
