Vittuone is an Italian municipality with 9288 inhabitants located in the metropolitan city of Milan, in Lombardy. The city is part of the western hinterland of Milan and the Magentino territory. The municipal territory is characterized by an elongated shape and borders Corbetta to the west and southwest, Cisliano to the south, Sedriano to the east and northeast, and finally Arluno to the north.

Physical geography

Geology and hydrography

Vittuone has low seismicity and has been classified as a zone 4 municipality by the National Department of Civil Protection. In its history, the city has been affected by three earthquakes of magnitude greater than 5.5 M: those of 1117, 1222, and 1887.

Climate

The climate of Vittuone is typical of the northern Italian plains, with cold and quite rigid winters with several days of frost. Summers are characterized by high temperatures that can exceed 30 °C and by humidity that can reach 80%. This can cause the phenomenon of humid heat commonly called "afa". However, humidity is not only present in summer but is high all year round. Data from the nearby Milan Malpensa meteorological station indicate, based on the 30-year reference average (1961-1990) for the World Meteorological Organization, that the average temperature of the coldest month, January, is around -4 °C, while that of the warmest month, July, is just above +28 °C. The municipality belongs to the E climatic zone, 2599 GR/G.
