Hello friends, today I want to talk about a small but enchanting municipality in Lombardy: Vistarino. With a population of only 1506 inhabitants, Vistarino is a peaceful and welcoming town located in the province of Pavia. The city is located in the central-eastern part of the Pavese territory, on the left bank of the Olona river.
The History of Vistarino
The city has been called ''Vestarino'' since the twelfth century, and was part of the "Campagna Sottana" of Pavia. In the fourteenth century, it belonged to the Beccaria of Pavia, of the branch of ''Messer Fiorello''. In the sixteenth century, the branch merged, through marriage, into the "Giorgi" of Santa Maria della Versa. When these latter became extinct, their relatives, the Giorgi of Pavia, acquired the fiefs that had belonged to the Beccaria and were appointed Counts of Vistarino. Since then they have been known as the Giorgi of Vistarino. In 1872, the municipalities of Buttirago and Vivente were merged with Vistarino.
