With its 6076 inhabitants, it is a welcoming city where people are very friendly.

Physical Geography

The Municipality of Villaverla is divided between the capital and the Novoledo fraction, which is located along the provincial road that leads to Dueville. The territory covers an area of 15.74 km² and is dedicated to agriculture, although it has also developed some notable industries in the last seventy years. Villaverla borders the municipalities of Montecchio Precalcino, Dueville, Caldogno, Isola Vicentina, Malo and Thiene.

Communication Routes

To the north of the municipality runs the A31 Valdastico motorway, which has its most accessible exit in Thiene. The railway line to Vicenza stops a few kilometres from the town centre, in the municipality of Montecchio Precalcino. The internal road network is easy thanks to SP 349, which runs through the middle of the town.

Watercourses

The area is located in a completely flat zone between the riverbeds of the Igna and Timonchio streams. The Timonchio hydrographic basin has an elongated shape from north to south, while the Igna's is more rounded. To the southeast is the so-called "Bosco Area", the first provincial natural park, rich in natural springs, the resurgences, accessible to the public since mid-2013. Here are the sources of the Bacchiglione river, which will then cross the city of Vicenza.

Mountains

In the background of the city, we find the mountains. Not far away, towards the northwest, stand Pasubio Massif, Monte Novegno and Monte Summano to the northwest, the Asiago plateau to the north, and the Monte di Malo hills to the west.

Origin of the name

Villaverla has a long history, dating back to Roman times. The first inhabited nucleus was called "Roburetum" ("oak grove") until the 13th century, a name that refers to the vegetation present in the area, rich in oaks. During the Middle Ages, the name changed following the establishment of the Verla Saxon family in the vicinity, which played an important role in the growth of the new residential centre, initially called Villa Verlaria and later Villa Verla. Finally, the name was transformed into the current Villaverla.

Conclusion

In summary, if you are looking for a quiet place with nature and history, Villaverla is the right place for you. With its natural landscapes, easy access to the nearby city, and the mountains in the background, you couldn't ask for more. Come and visit Villaverla and discover it for yourself!
