Villarosa

Events and traditions

The main festival in Villarosa takes place on September 8th and is dedicated to the Madonna della Catena. The procession in honor of the patron saint winds its way through the streets of the town and culminates in a solemn mass. During the festival, the town comes alive with stalls, rides, and musical performances. Another important tradition in the town is that of "panelle", sheets of bread dough filled with cheese, eggs, and pepper, which are consumed during the festival of the Madonna della Catena and on the occasion of the patron saint of Villarosa, San Giacomo, which takes place on July 25th.

Villarosa: traditions, typical products, and twinning. Discover authentic Sicily.

Twinning with Morlanwelz

In 2002, Villarosa signed a twinning agreement with the city of Morlanwelz, in Belgium. This agreement was born from the desire to maintain the ties between the communities of Italian immigrants who settled in the Belgian town during the 20th century. The twinning is concretized through visits between the two communities, during which moments of meeting and celebration are organized, and traditions and culture are exchanged.

Tourism

Although not a very well-known tourist destination, Villarosa offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in an authentic and genuine atmosphere of untouched Sicily. Among the recommended tourist itineraries is that which allows you to appreciate the natural landscape of the territory through excursions that wind through nearby towns and nature reserves. Moreover, for food and wine enthusiasts, a visit to one of the olive oil or cheese production companies in the area represents a unique and unforgettable tasting experience.

In summary, Villarosa is a small town that, thanks to its central location and the variety of typical products it offers, represents a reference point for the surrounding area. A visit to Villarosa, among traditions, culture, and nature, can be the opportunity to discover an authentic and little-known Sicily.
