Physical geography
Villanova Biellese is on the right bank of the Cervo stream and its lowest point is located in the easternmost area at 191 meters, while the town center is at an altitude of 232 meters. The north-western part of the municipality, where the capital is located, is about thirty meters higher than the rice paddies plain and belongs to the Biellese baraggia.
History
Villanova Biellese was a hamlet of the municipality of Massazza, of which it followed the fortunes. The economy of the village was largely based on rice cultivation, but viticulture was also practiced in the past, which was then abandoned.
Symbols
The coat of arms of the municipality of Villanova is horizontally divided into three stripes. On the first one, with a red background, a silver flying heron is depicted in profile. The other two stripes each represent a part of a checkerboard, with squares in green and gold for the first one, and blue and gold for the second.
