Located on a hill bordered to the south by Giara di Assolo, to the east by the Imbessu River, to the north by Grighine, and to the west by Bradaxiana di Usellus, the town offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside.

History

Villa Sant'Antonio boasts an ancient history that dates back to the pre-Nuragic and Nuragic periods. Visitors can admire the domus de janas, menhirs, Nuraghes, and Roman tombs which testify to the presence of ancient settlements.

The current town is of recent origin and dates back to the eighteenth century when a statue of Saint Anthony Abbot was found near a spring. An oratory was built and some families settled in the area.

Symbols

The coat of arms and the banner of the municipality of Villa Sant'Antonio were granted in 2015. The banner is a blue and white divided cloth.

Archaeological sites

The territory of Villa Sant'Antonio is very rich in springs and important archaeological remains such as menhirs, domus de janas, Nuraghes, and Roman sites. The most famous are the menhir of Carabassa, the menhir of Monte Cuccuru Tundu, the menhir of Tuttiricchiu, the domus de Janas of Genna Salixi, the domus de janas of Is Forrus, the domus de janas of Maccettu or Trunch'e Pani, the Nuraghe Arruda, the Nuraghe Bruncu Mannu, the Nuraghe Crannaiou, the Nuraghe Ispei, the Nuraghe s'Enna'e sa Pira, the Nuraghe Su Moguru, and the Roman or medieval tomb of Maccettu or Trunch'e Pani.

Among the religious buildings, visitors can also visit the Church of Saint Anthony Abbot, which dates back to the eighteenth century.
