History

The inhabited center of Viganò dates back to the Roman period and has seen the passage of several noble families that have left their mark on its architecture and culture. From the Sirtori to the Giussani to the Villata, the history of Viganò has been marked by the events of the surrounding territory, until its aggregation to the municipality of Barzanò in 1928 and the subsequent reconstruction of autonomy in 1953.

Symbols

The emblem of the municipality of Viganò is represented by the shield of the noble Milanese family of Viganò. Granted in 1987, the emblem represents the historic belonging of this small municipality to the Lombard nobility.

Patronal festival

The most important festival in Viganò is dedicated to the Patron Saint Apollonia of Alexandria, celebrated on the first Sunday after February 9th. During the festival, the town comes alive with stalls, markets, and exhibitions of local art, featuring the famous sweet fried ravioli, prepared by families in the municipality according to their recipes passed down from generation to generation.
