Vermiglio
Vermiglio: a village surrounded by the greenery of the Alps
If you are looking for a destination for a rejuvenating break in nature, Vermiglio could be the right choice for you. This municipality in the autonomous province of Trento, with a population of approximately 1839, is located at the foot of the Alps and its most famous fraction is Passo del Tonale, which marks the border with Lombardy.
Physical geography
Territory
The main center of Vermiglio is divided into three fractions: Pizzano, the largest, Fraviano, and Cortina. They seem like one single inhabited center because they are built next to each other. West of the village, there is a beautiful green valley with cultivated meadows, crossed by the Vermigliana stream that flows into the Noce River downstream of Vermiglio.
Hydrography
The Vermigliana stream provides water for hydroelectric power production using three turbines in the Stavel power plant. The new power plant was built next to the old one inherited from the "Todeschi." This source of clean energy is an important gain for the municipality, which sells it.
