Casacorba

Casacorba: a picturesque hamlet of Vedelago

Hello friends! Today I will talk about Casacorba, a beautiful hamlet of the Municipality of Vedelago, in the province of Treviso.

Physical geography

The hamlet is located southeast of the municipal capital and is completely flat, with altitudes hovering around 30 m above sea level. It is a noteworthy area from a hydrographic point of view, as it is located in the spring zone, i.e. the birthplace of the Sile River. The territory is protected by the Fiume Sile Regional Nature Park, which guarantees a humid and protected environment.

Monuments and places of interest

Church of Santa Fosca

Among the monuments and places of interest in Casacorba, the Church of Santa Fosca stands out. It dates back to 1181, when it was just a chapel subordinate to the chapter of the diocese of Treviso. Later, it depended on the parish of Albaredo, assuming full autonomy in 1757. The current building, instead, was built between 1738 and 1741 and consecrated by the Bishop of Treviso Paolo Francesco Giustiniani in 1777.

According to historians, the building was designed by Giorgio Massari, although some believe it was the work of the master builder Pietro Cappellaro di Levada. Among the preserved works, there are the altarpiece of the main altar and the altarpiece on the right altar, the latter painted by Giacomo Galletti in 1677. In addition, above the entrance door is the new organ of 22 registers, commissioned by Don Narciso Zanini and inaugurated by Giuseppe De Donà in 1984, and the work of Alessandro Girotto di Postioma.

Other places of interest

Casacorba also offers other places of interest, such as the central square, where the weekly market is held on Thursday mornings, and the Venier farmhouse, which houses a farm and the headquarters of the Casacorba Band.

Infrastructure and transport

Roads

The provincial road 5 "Castellana", which connects Salvatronda to Quinto di Treviso, passes through the hamlet area.

Railways

Instead, the nearest railway station is Albaredo, on the Vicenza-Treviso line.

Conclusions

As you have seen, Casacorba is a charming hamlet rich in history. If you are in the area, I recommend visiting the Church of Santa Fosca and taking a walk in the central square to breathe the atmosphere of the weekly market. I wish you a good day and see you soon!
