Welcome to Barcon!

Hello everyone! Today I'll talk to you about Barcon, one of the hamlets of the municipality of Vedelago, in the province of Treviso. Are you ready to discover the history, economic activities and main monument of the village?

History

Barcon has ancient roots: the first news dates back to the 12th century. However, the hamlet developed more from the 16th century onwards, thanks to the possessions of the Trevigian family Pola, also known as Castropola. The patron saint of Barcon is Archangel Saint Michael.

Villa Pola

The gem of Barcon is certainly the barchessa villa Pola, located in the center of the village. The palace was built from 1721 onwards, designed by Giorgio Massari, for the noble Venetian family Pola. The villa had 364 windows and was surrounded by walls. At its sides stood two barns. However, over the years the palace became an unsustainable burden for the Pola family, who had it demolished between 1858 and 1861.
