However, municipal autonomy was proposed again by Vittorio Emanuele II on March 10, 1869, and on May 28, 1968, municipal autonomy was restored by the splitting of the homonymous fraction from the municipality of Magnago.
Regarding municipal administrations, the first ones were composed of majorities belonging to the Christian Democratic Party, while the Italian Communist Party and the Italian Socialist Party remained in opposition. In the 90s, center-right administrations followed with left-wing and league minorities. Since 2004, a center-left administration with the "Together for Vanzaghello" list has been leading the country, confirmed in the June 2009 and 2014 elections.

Vanzaghello has a population of 5246 inhabitants and consists of 2107 families. According to ISTAT data as of December 31, 2010, the resident foreign population is 281 people. The nationalities with the highest percentage of the total resident population were Pakistan with 1.02%.
Economy
Before the war, the economy shifted from agriculture to industrial thanks to the activity of the "Valle Ticino Cotton Mill" of Count Treccani. Today, however, Vanzaghello is better known for the development of construction happening in the city. The low cost of local real estate compared to neighboring cities like Busto Arsizio attracts many people to move here.
