Welcome to Piani di Bobbio: Where History Meets Skiing

Piani di Bobbio is a renowned tourist destination in the Valsassina area of Lecco province, where history and nature come together to create a unique experience. The area used to belong to the Abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio in Piacenza province and was used as summer grazing land for livestock. Today, the ski slopes of Piani di Bobbio and Valtorta are part of a ski resort with 35 km of trails.

The Ski Transformation of Piani di Bobbio

In the 1950s, with the construction of a chairlift and cable car from Barzio, Piani di Bobbio began to attract an increasing number of tourists and skiers. Over the years, more modern lift facilities were built, and the Lecco side of Piani di Bobbio was connected to the Bergamo side of Valtorta, creating a unique ski resort. In 2010, the old chairlift in Valtorta was replaced with a detachable 4-seat chairlift.

Future Projects for Piani di Bobbio

The ski resort continues to invest in the development of its infrastructure. Among the future projects are the Nava-Bobbio detachable 4-seat chairlift for the upper part of the return trail to Barzio, the Megoffi detachable 4-seat chairlift to expand the ski resort, and the new Ongania detachable 4-seat chairlift that will replace the current ski lift starting from the 2022-23 winter season.

Furthermore, the ski resort is also renowned for its numerous hiking trails, including via ferratas on the Gruppo dei Campelli. The Sanctuary of the Queen of Mountains and Cable Cars is also located here.

Welcome to Piani di Bobbio, where nature, history, and winter sports come together to offer an unforgettable experience!
