Today we're talking about Valbrenta, a municipality of 4,975 inhabitants in the province of Vicenza, in Veneto, born from the merger of the municipalities of Campolongo sul Brenta, Cismon del Grappa, San Nazario (Valbrenta) and Valstagna, in 2019. Its headquarters is located in the fraction of Carpanè, and it is a scattered municipality that includes almost the entire Brenta valley, bordering the Trentino Valsugana to the north. The Sette Comuni plateau closes it to the west, while Mount Grappa is located to the east.
Physical geography

History
Valbrenta was born with the Veneto Regional Council Law of January 30, 2019, sanctioning the merger of the former municipalities of Campolongo sul Brenta, Cismon del Grappa, San Nazario (Valbrenta) and Valstagna. The advisory referendum called by the Regional Government on provision 132/2018 of the same legislative assembly had a positive outcome in four of the five municipalities involved, with Solagna not participating in the merger. The capital of the municipality of Valbrenta was established by regional law in Carpanè, in the former municipality of San Nazario.
Symbols
The coats of arms and banner of the municipality of Valbrenta were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on November 19, 2020 and include the symbols of the municipalities that formed the new entity of Valbrenta. The banner, on the other hand, is a white cloth bordered in blue.
Monuments and places of interest
If you are passionate about art and religious architecture, Valbrenta is the right place for you. In the municipality, you can visit eight parish churches, including the Church of the Holy Spirit in Oliero, one of the most important historical buildings in the valley. The church was in fact built by the famous condottiero Ezzelino II da Romano, who retired there in 1221, along with a Benedictine monastery. The place was affiliated with the Campese monastery until its suppression in 1783 and had jurisdiction over the chapels of Valstagna and Campolongo.
Valbrenta is also the ideal place for nature lovers: among the mountains and the paths, you can enjoy the beauty of the landscape. If you are interested in extreme sports, you can try paragliding or hang gliding on Mount Grappa, or ski on its slopes during the winter.
