Valsamoggia: The Municipality Born from the Merger of Five Italian Towns

Physical Geography
Valsamoggia is located in the province of Bologna and is situated west of Bologna, towards Modena. The municipality's territory is generally hilly and also includes the foothill plain area. Here are Bazzano and Crespellano, two heavily urbanized areas. Despite urbanization, traditional agricultural and intensive livestock activities are still present. The foothill area is heavily industrialized. Valsamoggia is entirely included in the watershed of the Samoggia stream, a tributary of the Reno river.

Symbols
The coat of arms and the banner of the municipality of Valsamoggia were granted by decree of the president of the Republic on April 17, 2015. The banner is a red cloth.
