Valprato Soana is situated in the beautiful Val Soana, on the right side of the Soana stream. The village is located at the junction of two valleys – one leading to Campiglia Soana and the other to Piamprato. History

The exact origin of this ancient village is unknown, but the area where it is located has been inhabited since Roman times. Local religious tradition also reports the presence of San Besso, a martyr in the area. In the Middle Ages, the village was affected by several revolts and the passage of various armies, including the French army. In 1928, the municipality of Valprato was merged with that of Campiglia Soana, taking the current name of Valprato Soana. During World War II, the village was the scene of the crash of two British planes. In 2013, the municipality erected a monument in memory of these events.

Valprato Soana is rich in places and monuments of great charm, such as the church of San Grato in Piamprato. Built in the eighteenth century, this church presents the typical features of mountain architecture, with a double-pitched roof and a "lose" covering. The parish church of San Giacomo in Pianetto, on the other hand, distinguished by three entrance portals on the facade, features a fresco depicting a Madonna with Child, Saint Peter, Saint Catherine, and San Besso. Finally, the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve in Beirano, adorned internally with a cross vault in the presbytery, is one of the most suggestive places of worship in the area.
