Welcome to Valle Salimbene, a municipality located in the province of Pavia, in Lombardy. With a population of just over 1400 inhabitants, Valle Salimbene is an ideal destination for those seeking tranquillity and relaxation, but still want to visit an area rich in history and culture. Let's discover together the main attractions of this location.

History

Valle Salimbene has always been characterized by the presence of farmhouses and manorial villas, which already from the 16th century had communal autonomy despite their limited size. In the Middle Ages, the Monastery of Monastero and the church of San Pietro in Verzolo owned vast assets in the area, a feature that characterizes many surrounding areas of Pavia.

Valle Salimbene owes its name to the family who owned the land where a farmhouse was located. In the 17th century, it became an autonomous municipality under the name of "Cassina della Valle". Over the years, the municipality grew gradually and in 1871 was merged with the municipalities of Belvedere al Po and Motta San Damiano.
