History
The municipality of Colle Santa Lucia has an ancient history dating back to 1002, when the Livinallongo Judgment included the territory of the municipality of Colle Santa Lucia, as well as that of Livinallongo del Col di Lana and Rocca Pietore within the County of Isarco. In 1145, the farm "Puchperc, qui dicitur Wersil" was donated by the bishop Hartmann of Brixen to the abbey of Novacella which had been founded a few years earlier in 1142. Pope Alexander II and Emperor Frederick Barbarossa in two different documents confirmed the ownership of the "Territory of Fursil" and the mines of Fursil to the Novacella convent. In 1803, after the temporal power of the bishop of Brixen had lasted for 776 years, the secularization of the church's belongings began. In 1805, Colle Santa Lucia was annexed to the Kingdom of Bavaria along with the County of Tyrol and the former Principality of Trento following Austrian defeats against the Napoleonic army.
