A brief history of Valeggio Lomellina

The history of Valeggio is interesting and can be traced back to the 10th century when the village belonged to the monastery of San Salvatore in Pavia. In 1250, the village appeared on the list of lands subject to the rule of Pavia, with the name of ''Valegium''. Over the centuries, the village passed under the ownership of the Albonese counts of Pavia, the Arcimboldi of Milan and then, from 1733 until the end of feudalism, the De Cardenas. In 1859, Valeggio became part of the province of Pavia.
