On that occasion, the landslide detached from Monte Zandila destroyed the village of Sant'Atonio Morignone and the locality of Morignone. The hamlet of Aquilone was swept away, causing the deaths of 28 people, while another 7 lost their lives while working to repair a road. However, the church of San Bartolomeo de Castelaz was spared thanks to its elevated position.
