The Andonno Fraction: History and Geography
Andonno is a hamlet of the municipality of Valdieri in the province of Cuneo, located in the middle of Valle Gesso between Monte Cross and the summit of Saben. In the past, it was an autonomous municipality, but in 1928 it was merged with Valdieri by Royal Decree. The town is dominated by the lookout tower called Castlas, whose origin is presumed to be Roman.

The parish church of Sant'Eusebio, dating back to the 13th century and restored during the 15th century, is a construction of valuable workmanship. Also, the Confraternity of Santa Croce, located in the historical center, dates back to the 18th century. The Andonno ethnographic museum is dedicated to the history of the village and its material culture. The museum is set up on two floors and is named after Giuseppe Giraudo.

The toponym of Andonno is believed to derive from the Latin expression "An donum," meaning "another place." The village of Andonno is located next to the Gesso stream, on the left side, in a natural basin. The center of the village is located at 733 meters above sea level.
