Religious Architecture

The Montesenario Sanctuary is definitely a must-see if you are lovers of religion and nature. The Church of Sant'Andrea in Cerreto Maggio, on the other hand, was built on the ruins of an old castle and its founders were the Cerretani. In the Church of San Pietro in Vaglia, you can admire an ebony reliquary of the Holy Cross, a monstrance, a liturgical chalice, a silver navicella censer, two festoons, and a Robbian angel head, as well as the extraordinary work of Piero Confortini, the Madonna del Rosario.

The Church of San Niccolò in Ferraglia, on the other hand, was under the patronage of the feudal families Pitti-Gaddi. The Church of San Michele alle Macchie houses a painting on the main altar that represents the Madonna del Buon Consiglio and the Church of Santo Stefano in Pescina, where you can admire a magnificent glazed terracotta depicting Saint Lawrence, attributed to Luca Della Robbia.

The Church of San Romolo in Bivigliano, instead, is famous for its altarpiece by Andrea Della Robbia, depicting the Virgin and Child, between San Romolo, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and St. Francis of Assisi, and for the wooden statue of St. John the Baptist attributed to Michelozzo, as well as for the two paintings by Master Annigoni depicting St. Anthony of Padua and Mary, Queen of the Rosary.
