Usellus
Usellus: a small municipality in the province of Oristano
Hello friends, today I will talk to you about Usellus, a Sardinian municipality with 728 inhabitants located in the province of Oristano. It is situated in the geographical area known as Marmilla, on the north-eastern slope of the Arci mountain.
History
The area of Usellus was inhabited since the Neolithic age and was also important during the Nuragic era, as evidenced by the nuraghi present in the territory. During the Roman era, Usellus was a colony called ''Uselis'', but was destroyed by the mountain people of Barbagia. Traces of this colony are still visible near the church of Santa Reparata.
In the Middle Ages, Usellus was the seat of a diocese and belonged to the Giudicato of Arborea. Later on, it became part of the Marchesato of Oristano and then of the Aragonese domain. In 1839, Usellus became a municipality administered by a mayor and a city council.

The coat of arms and the banner of the Municipality of Usellus were granted by a decree of the President of the Republic in 1995.
