In 1809, a decree by Napoleon decided to suppress the municipal autonomy of Albignano and annex it to Truccazzano. However, with the return of the Austrians in 1816, the Municipality of Albignano regained its autonomy. But the Austrians subsequently had to recognize the goodness of the ancient Napoleonic model and with a royal dispatch of January 17, 1841, they restored the perpetual annexation to Truccazzano.
