Roncola

Discovering Roncola

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about a small village in the province of Bergamo, located just 8 km from the city center. I'm talking about Roncola, or "La Róncola" as it is pronounced in Bergamo dialect. Roncola is a hamlet of Treviolo, a municipality in the province of Bergamo, and has about 900 inhabitants.

Places of interest

If you pass through this area, you absolutely must visit the Church of the Sacred Heart, dating back to 1922. It is a very beautiful and suggestive church, I recommend you enter and admire the frescoes inside. But it's not the only church in the area, in fact you can also see the church of Santa Maria nascente, located near "Villa Volpi", a large villa built by the Volpi family with sumptuous shapes. I suggest you take a walk around the villa, the landscape is truly enchanting!

Festivals in Roncola

Roncola is also famous for its festivals. The sports festival takes place in May and is a very popular event among the inhabitants of the hamlet and beyond. The palio roncolese, on the other hand, takes place between the end of June and the beginning of July: it is a very popular and heartfelt racing competition. Finally, in September, the "Canto anch'io" event takes place, which includes a singing competition open to everyone.

Notes

I recommend booking your stay in Roncola in advance, especially for the most important festivals. In addition, if you love nature, you can go hiking on the trails around the hamlet: you can ask for information at the tourism office in Treviolo.

Bibliography and related articles

For more information on the history of Roncola, I recommend reading the book "La devota capella di quella contrada" written by Angelo Pesenti and Giuliana Speziali. In addition, on the website of the municipality of Treviolo you can find further information on the hamlet and the Church of the Sacred Heart.
