Treville: a small town in the heart of Monferrato
Welcome to Treville, a small town in the province of Alessandria, located in the Monferrato region. With its 280 inhabitants, Treville is a peaceful and picturesque place, nestled in the hills of Piedmont.
History
The municipality of Treville has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages. The first document mentioning the name of Treville is a decree from 1202, in which the Marquis Boniface I Aleramo appointed Anselmo Musso di Paciliano as lord of the fief.
The Local Statutes of Treville date back to 1303 and are among the oldest in Monferrato. During the Mantuan dominion, Treville was sold to several noble families, including the Gonzaga, Giulio Strozzi and Gerolamo Amarotto de' Andreasi.
In 1699 the Gozani family acquired the feud of Treville and commissioned the construction of Treville Palace in Casale Monferrato. Since 1713, the municipality passed under the control of the Savoy family and remained under the House of Savoy for many years.
Symbols
The municipality of Treville has a blue shield with three gold lilies placed in pale. The exterior ornaments include a turreted crown and a branch of oak and olive.
Society
In the last hundred years, Treville has lost two-thirds of its resident population. However, the community is still strong and active, with a series of cultural, sports and social activities that animate the life of the town.
Administration
Currently, the mayor of Treville is Mario Rossi, who took office in 2019. His administration has emphasized the importance of the municipality's historical and cultural heritage, promoting a series of initiatives to enhance the beauty of the area.
Demographic evolution
In recent years, the municipality has seen a slight demographic recovery, with a 5% increase in the resident population compared to 2010.
