Trescore Balneario

Discovering Trescore Balneario: a Lombard gem rich in history, spas and architectural beauty

Welcome to Trescore Balneario, a small town of about 10,000 inhabitants located in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy. Known for its spas, it is also a commercial, artistic and historical center.

A strategic location

We are about 15 kilometers east of Bergamo and Trescore Balneario has always been the main center of the lower Val Cavallina and administrative capital. Its name comes from the Latin "Trescurium", although it is not certain whether this was the name of the ancient village that was located in the same area as today’s town.

An interesting historic center

The historic center of Trescore Balneario is divided into the districts of Piazza, Torre, Strada, Riva, Macina, Fornaci, Canton-Vallesse, Minardi and Redona. Among the monuments present, the most prominent is the 13th-century Torre Suardi, which dominates the spacious Piazza of Trescore. Not far from here, we find the Church of San Pietro Apostolo, in neoclassical style, which houses works by Venetian and Bergamasque artists, including Antonio Balestra and Ponziano Loverini.

Frescoes by Lorenzo Lotto

But the real gem of Trescore Balneario is located within the private villa of the descendants of the Suardi family. It is the frescoes by Lorenzo Lotto in the Suardi Chapel, created in 1524 and dedicated to the Stories of Santa Barbara and San Cristoforo. One more reason to explore this charming Lombard town.

The charm of spas

Trescore Balneario is also famous for its spas, which were already considered effective for various ailments during Roman times. Today, the thermal facilities have been renovated and modernized, but they still maintain their aura of tranquility and relaxation. A perfect place to regenerate and find inner balance.
