Sopramonte is a beautiful village in the municipality of Trento, located on the western slope of Mount Bondone. This village has about 2859 inhabitants and is situated at an altitude of 623 meters above sea level. Its history is very interesting and dates back many centuries.
History of Sopramonte
The village of Sopramonte was an autonomous municipality until 1926, when the government declared the suppression of Italian municipalities. From that moment on, Sopramonte was merged with the municipality of Trento. Originally, the name of the village was Ovéno, and the term Sopramonte referred to all the villages in the area. Today, the original name is only remembered in the main square of the village.
Monuments and points of interest
Sopramonte offers many tourist attractions. Among the religious architectures, you can visit the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Church of Sant'Anna. The former is located on top of a hill and offers a great panoramic view of the village. The latter, instead, is located in the center of Sopramonte and has a unique design that attracts many tourists.

The village of Sopramonte is part of the third district of the municipality of Trento, called "Bondone". The district also includes three other villages: Baselga del Bondone, Cadine, and Vigolo Baselga.
