Romagnano

Romagnano: history, geography, and location

Hello everyone! Today we're talking about Romagnano, a hamlet located in the Decentralized Municipal District number 5 of the municipality of Trento. The location of this little village is truly interesting, as it is situated on the right bank of the river Adige and at the foot of Mount Bondone, about 6 kilometers south of the city of Trento and 5 from the municipality of Aldeno. After visiting this place, I noticed that it offers several monuments and places of interest, offering a range of opportunities to all tourists who decide to visit.

Religious and military monuments

If you are a lover of religious architectures, don't miss the church of Santa Brigida. This parish church located in Trento is dedicated to the Irish saint. We also know that Romagnano was one of the localities that was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, if you are a lover of these places you cannot miss the Romagnano Fort, a fortification dating back to the second half of the nineteenth century, located in the Adige valley, which served the function of guarding this direction coming from the southern part.

Romagnano: discover the history and treasures of the Trentino village!

The prehistoric discovery

If you are passionate about prehistory, the archaeological site "Romagnano Loc" might interest you. This prehistoric site located at the foot of Mount Bondone has become important not only for the Trentino prehistory but also for the South Alpine population. Between 1968 and 1971, on the top of the cone of the Rio Bondone, the place where the population once lived was discovered, protected by natural rocks. Here, 17 tombs of adult men and 31 of children were found, a surprising and interesting discovery!

The hydroworks facility

Another curiosity concerns the hydroworks facility located at the mouth of the Lidorno ditch: built in 2008, it is equipped with two pumps of 1250 liters per second, prepared for the Romagnano campaigns and the urban areas of the neighboring hamlets.
