Montevaccino

Welcome to Montevaccino: an ancient and charming hamlet of Trento

Welcome to Montevaccino, one of the eight hamlets that make up the Municipal Decentralization District number 6 of Argentario in Trento. This location is 715 meters above sea level, at the foot of Mount Calisio, about 8.5 km from the capital. Montevaccino is an ancient locality whose origins date back to the beginning of the 1st millennium. In the past, the village was a settlement of the silver mines of Argentario, whose name derives from the geological characteristics of the surrounding terrain. In the 1960s, the village counted just over a hundred inhabitants who lived in isolation, reachable only through an unpaved and unlit road. However, over the years, the construction industry has developed and the village has become a residential neighborhood of Trento, although it has preserved the charm of its origins in its two historic settlements, Montevaccino di Sopra and Montevaccino di Sotto.
