Trentinara then belonged to various noble families, such as the Del Giudice, the Sanseverino, and the De Angelis, who were granted the title of Marquis.

During World War II, Trentinara was involved in the operations of the Allied troops as part of the Salerno landing, and the village was at risk of being leveled to the ground.
