Trecase
Welcome to Trecase!
Hi everyone! Today I will talk to you about Trecase, a municipality of around 8,500 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Naples, in Campania. Its name derives from the fact that since the 16th century, the inhabitants of the area were obliged to pay land taxes to three religious houses.
Discover Trecase
Trecase became an independent municipality in 1980, but previously was a fraction of Boscotrecase. It is said to have been the first settlement of farmers in the forest of "Silva mala" in the 15th century, near the city of Torre del Greco.
The history of Trecase
The municipality's banner is yellow. Trecase is famous for the parish church, dating back to 1587, which later became the Diocesan Sanctuary of Madonna delle Grazie and San Gennaro, also known as the Church of San Gennaro, the patron saint of the city. It is the oldest church in the Bosco area and is home to numerous works of art. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Trecase was also a holiday destination for noble Neapolitan families, as evidenced by the numerous villas of delights scattered throughout the territory such as Villa Ducoster, Filippone, Langella, Lebano, and Ruta.
Social and economic life
Trecase has a slightly increasing population. The city produces a wide variety of products, including Lacryma Christi wine, apricots, pine nuts, and piennolo tomatoes. It is also served by the Naples-Poggiomarino and Naples-Sorrento railway lines of the Ferrovia Circumvesuviana.
Administration and more
There are no other important notes regarding Trecase. The municipality does not have an official website, but you can find further information on the website of the CNGEI Portici section, a secular scout group.
I hope this information has been useful in getting to know Trecase better! If you are looking for a relaxing place surrounded by nature and close to the coast, this could be the perfect place for you. Goodbye!
