History

Origins and Ancient Age

The origins of the city are still uncertain, but it is presumed to have been founded by Picentini, Etruscans, and other peoples. Over time, the population grew and thirteen fractions were formed scattered throughout the territory. The village of Cesarano was founded by the Romans in the 4th-5th century BC for security reasons, and other villages were subsequently established.
