Monuments and places of interest in Torrevecchia Teatina

Torrevecchia Teatina is known for the beauty of its monuments and places of interest.

The Church of San Rocco is located in the town center and was built in the 1960s. Its square-shaped plan with a single nave, an internal narthex and a large octagonal rose window on the main façade facing the homonymous square make it unique and original. The side walls develop in a broken line with 10 vertical windows, decorated with biblical passages, for an original internal lighting. To the left of the façade stands the bell tower, now a symbol of the small Teatine community.

The Church of Madonna della Libera is located in the Torre locality and was built in the 1960s by the people of Torre. This small load-bearing masonry building was finished with the classic finishes of the time, while the sober façade includes a small entrance porch (external narthex) with a classic pitched roof.

The Church of San Giuseppe, in Castelferrato, was built between the 17th and 18th centuries in the pseudobaroque Abruzzese style. The single-nave basilica with a barrel vault is elegantly and richly decorated inside reflecting the minor Abruzzese artistic tradition.

The Church of San Pasquale Baylon, located in the Torremontanara locality, dates back to the 19th century, after local farmers found a statue of San Pasquale Baylon near the Alento river. The church, initially intended as a family chapel, was later expanded and equipped with a bell tower. The style of the church reflects the style of the Teatine rural votive chapels.

Finally, the Valignani Palace stood along a secondary track that from the mountains followed the route related to the sources and reservoirs. Built in 1743 as a summer residence by Federico Valignani, this two-story palace with an internal courtyard was inspired by the Villa d'Este in Tivoli. On the left side of the façade stands a corner tower, built later than the original layout to balance the façade.
