Torre de' Passeri

Welcome to Torre de' Passeri

Welcome to Torre de' Passeri, a small Italian town located in the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo. Our town, with its 2,819 inhabitants, is nestled in the beautiful Val Pescara and has a fascinating history linked to the Abbey of San Clemente in Casauria.

History

The origins of Torre de' Passeri are closely linked to the "Villa Bectorrita or Vectorrita", a tower that existed in the current location of Torrione and was incorporated into the lands of the Abbey between 873 and 882. In 1074 Trasmondo, abbot of San Clemente in Casauria, built a castle with a tower to defend the area from attacks by the neighboring inhabitants of Tocco da Casauria. In 1652, Torre de' Passeri became the possession of the Mazara di Sulmona marquises, thanks to whom it became an important economic center.

The ceramics of Torre de' Passeri

Torre de' Passeri is also known for its production of ceramics.
