Torlino Vimercati was first mentioned in a document called the Imperial Diploma, dating back to 1192. In 1819, the municipality of Azzano was annexed to Torlino. In 1861, the municipality had a population of 606 inhabitants and was administered by a mayor, a council and a council. In 1926, during the fascist period, the municipality was instead administered by a podestà. In 1961, the municipality was named Torlino Vimercati in honor of Count Ottaviano Vimercati, ambassador of King Victor Emmanuel II of Savoy.
