San Martino di Castrozza is a village within the municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, located in the autonomous province of Trento, in the high Primiero. The tourist destination, renowned especially for its proximity to the Pale di San Martino, offers numerous opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts and summer mountaineers. The meadow basin where San Martino is located is surrounded by the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park which offers a stunning view of numerous Dolomite peaks.

San Martino is surrounded by numerous Dolomite peaks, including the Pale di San Martino group, Vezzana, Rosetta and Sass Maor. The municipality also offers a view of the Feltrine peak group, including Mount Pavione.
History
San Martino owes its origin to the Hospice of Saints Martin and Julian, a very ancient religious institution that housed travelers crossing the Passo Rolle. In 1873, the tourist resort was founded with the construction of the first alpine hotel, on the proposal of the Irish mountaineer John Ball. During the 20th century, the resort established itself as one of the most famous tourist destinations in northern Italy.
Monuments and places of interest
The Church of Saints Martin and Julian represents the only religious monument remaining from the ancient hospice. The parish church is currently the main place of worship in the locality.

The short novel "Fräulein Else" by Austrian writer Arthur Schnitzler is set in San Martino di Castrozza.
